Toddler Overdoses On Opioids, Jersey Shore Couple Charged With Endangering: Prosecutor

A Wall Township couple has been charged with endangerment after their toddler overdosed on suspected opioids in the family home, authorities said.

Sharek White, 46, and Alexis Mistretta, 37, were charged with one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.

On Monday, Oct. 18, Wall Township police were called to a residence on the 1100 block of 17th Avenue for a suspected overdose. Police found an unresponsive

toddler, nearly 2 years of age, with lifesaving efforts already in progress. The efforts continued, as the child was rushed to a local hospital, where she is alert and currently being monitored, Santiago said on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

The child is believed to have been playing with items that had been exposed to opioid narcotics, he said.

The case is a joint investigation with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wall Township Police Department.
